Catawba Ramping Up For P25

Got informed that Catawba County VIPER radios are to be programmed for P25 the first part of December.

No word given the county as to when a system transition will take place.

Great to have some news to pass along and things are moving along.

Huff And Puff

High Windy site in Buncombe County had its tower toppled by the recent Hurricane Sandy.

VIPER techs are scrambling to restore microwave linking disrupted by the loss of this tower.

NCSHP has already been granted temporary FCC authorization for a MW path between the Tryon Peak and Spindale sites.

VIPER acquired the former Town of Mint Hill 800 MHz system.

Pelham Update






Got the scoop on the Pelham site in Caswell County.

It's site #53 in Zone 2, C123.

Has PCC of 868.4375 with ACC of 868.1250.  Callsign is WQPS846.

May have been a delay getting it on air since a special temporary authorization was granted just this past week.

Dobson Knob in McDowell County is now part of the VIPER family.

868.8625 MHz for the primary control channel with an alternate of 868.2500 MHz.

Has the site number 48 in Zone 4 and its site alias is DOBSON.

It's located northwest of that community near the NC/VA state line.

Could not determine from currently available FCC licensing as to the operating frequencies.

Been a while on new start ups!
